HIGHLIGHT (Illustration Friday)

January 6th, 2012 § 6 Comments

For: Illustration Friday’s theme of ‘Highlight.’ Maybe it’s not a flourescent yellow marker, but a flashlight can still highlight some words on a page, right? At least that’s what this little gal I call Ann thinks. So does her hedgehog Marc. And, uh, she just might be a book idea in progress…

SINK (Illustration Friday)

Prompted by Illustration Friday’s theme this week of “Sink”—and the recent true account of a New Zealand woman finding a seal on her sofa—here’s what might be causing the clog in your bathroom sink.

Illustration Friday Theme: DISGUISE

September 2nd, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Prompted by the theme of disguise, here’s an illustration some strong coffee and I put together this morning of the curious moment in which a mother swan can’t quite decide how to react to some stowaways in her nest.

You’re My Obsession

August 4th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

It’s no mystery that I’m obsessed with sharks – an obsession laced with fear that made swimming in a pool by myself impossible until just a couple of years ago. I’m also obsessed with eating French macarons, but I figured illustrating my obsession with these sleek ocean predators made for a better illustration for IllustrationFriday.com ’s current theme of obsession, especially since we find ourselves in the midst of Discovery Channel’s annual Shark Week. Academy Award Nominated Picture Books

February 3rd, 2011 § 1 Comment

In honor of the glitterati pomp and circumstance of the upcoming 83rd Annual Academy Awards, I’ve decided to pay tribute to a select few of the 10 (or is it 376 this year?) Best Picture nominees by further immortalizing them as children’s picture book covers. Kicking off the list is my favorite pick for the year, Darren Aronofsky’s The Black Swan. Can’t you just see reading this to a group of previously disinterested 3rd graders?
